As usual, the road to the garden center lay past the DA supermarket. Remembering last year and how many flower products there are in the spring, starting from bags with bulbs of lilies and gladioli, astilba, phlox, clematis, daylily rhizomes, ending with roses and ornamental shrubs in a box, I decided to stop by and see what’s new there. And it turns out — appeared, for the first time, hydrangeas.

I managed to grab 2 varieties of hydrangeas. One hydrangea large-leaved Friedenstein with a very beautiful pink hue inflorescences. I got the last box, but the seedling is quite decent, with already awakened buds. By the way, the name is written differently everywhere somewhere Friedenstein, somewhere Freidenstein, but the variety is the same.

Second hydrangea paniculata Unique , quite interesting with sterile inflorescences. They say that hydrangeas with such inflorescences are very much appreciated by connoisseurs and collectors of hydrangeas.

To be honest, I hadn’t even heard these names before, but I wasn’t particularly fond of hydrangeas themselves, although the treelike Anabel has been successfully growing in my garden for a long time . But the price fascinated me, and I could not resist.

I remember last year in our garden center panicle hydrangeas in pots in the summer cost 1200 rubles per bush, the bushes were really decent in size, they were of different varieties: Lime Light, Vanilla Fraise and company, I didn’t really want to buy for such a price.

I put both purchased hydrangeas on a glazed loggia to slow down development, but you can’t deceive nature, development has already begun. The temperature on the loggia even at night is +16, and during the day it is +23, so the leaves are already growing. Hydrangeas were sold in boxes, one Unique with a black film wrapped around the root system, it had to be immediately transplanted into a large container. The second — large-leaved Friedenstein was already in a small container, and remained in it. Before landing in the garden, there is enough space in the container for her.

Now I’m thinking about what place in the garden to allocate for them, they love the sun. And together with them I got myself a headache, because large-leaved hydrangeas winter very difficult in the Moscow region. But we know the rules, we will try.
